Pre-shipment inspections and production quality controls to ensure compliance
Pre-shipment inspections conducted by TCA protect manufacturers and importers from the risks involved in international trade, particularly with respect to imports from Asia.
Importers frequently go through a highly unpleasant experience: the merchandise they had ordered often did not comply with the agreed specifications. Customer complaints started pouring in because the marketed products soon proved to be unsafe or were no longer operable.
The supplier had not complied with the quality and safety criteria agreed upon when the order was placed. Often enough, this results in lengthy recourse proceedings, expensive product recall actions and, worst of all, the associated damage to reputation.
Shipment inspections based on sampling plans according to MIL-STD-105E and conducted by TCA staff in China ensure that companies ordering goods receive them in line with the agreed specifications. Our technical experts check the entire consignment abroad prior to shipment, please see below for the sequence and the content of inspections:
Sequence of the inspection process:
Decide on the Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL) for Critical/Major/Minor findings
Decide on the general and special inspection level, the lot size and enter table to find sample size code letter
Enter sampling plan table to find the Accepted/Rejected size to be used.
Determine inspection checklist
Random selection of samples
Begin with normal and special inspection
Compile all findings and prepare inspection report
Decide: Pass or Fail
Customer to release the shipment
Note: items highlighted to be provided by applicant
Normal inspection:
- Earth continuity test and Electric Strength test
- Functional test and cosmetics, Australian approvals, markings, instruction manuals and safety warnings, check cord set for compliance, content of gift box.
Special inspection:
- Check Australian requirements, internal construction and wiring, critical components for safety and EMC, software loading, extended functional checks.
Technical requirements for electrical safety tests:
1. Earth continuity test (Class I appliances only):
Test: resistance less than 0.1 ohm (0.2 ohm for supply cord)
Test equipment: current at least 10 A, source with no-load voltage not exceeding 12 V (a.c or d.c)
2. Electric Strength test:
Test: Class I and class II appliances: basic insulation: 1000 V, double/reinforced: 2500 V. Class III appliances: basic insulation: 400 V
Test equipment: trip current 5 mA , test current is a.c. (1.5 of above value for d.c. voltage), test time 1 s. Appliance must be operational (switch in ON position)
3. Functional test:
Test: correct load for motor/heating appliances, ON-OFF and interlock switches, correct polarity, connections, remote controls, etc.
